The Dell Precision T5600 has a four channel memory bus architecture. Dell recommends that all four memory channels be populated with DIMMs for maximum memory performance. Maximum memory speed is tied to processor. 1600MHz memory will run at a reduced speed of 1333MHz when paired with 7.2GT/s processors and 1066MHz with 6.4GT/s processors. 1333MHz memory will run at a reduced speed of 1066MHz when paired with 6.4GT/s processors.

HDD Configuration
The system has an integrated storage controller unit (SCU) which is part of the Intel C600 chipset. Depending upon the option chosen at time of purchase, the controller’s base level support for SATA drives including host based RAID 0,1,5,10 can be configured to also support SAS drives with RAID options. Note: This controller is rated at 3.0Gbit/s (SATA 2 or SAS 3.0Gbit/s). It will support SATA 3 and SAS 6.0Gbit/s drives but at maximum 3.0Gbit/s throughput.
